Chlamydomonas, a green alga, swims in water with two hair-like structures called flagella. Normally, Chlamydomonas swims in a breaststroke motion, but when exposed to strong light, it changes the way of swimming and retreats. The lines in a rainbow color depict the traces of Chlamydomonas movement and the white circles indicate where the retreats occurred.
