★SDC Collaboration Event No.3★ “Karanchoe-no-hana” Special Movie Screening & Talk event (Jun 21)

Poster

If there was a rumor that your friend is a sexual minority, what would you do?

Here is a film that has won 13 prizes; 6 from domestic film festivals including the 26th Rainbow Reel Tokyo (Tokyo International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival).
Moreover, a fresh performance from young rising star actress Mio Imada illustrates wonderfully the changing emotions of high school students.

In recent years, LGBT issues have been taken up a lot by both domestic and foreign media.
There are a lot of films that show the love or circumstances of sexual minorities, however “Karanchoe-no-hana” is a film that also manages to focus on “the people surrounding sexual minorities”. From this different point of view in only 39 minutes it illustrates both the people who are swayed by the excessive consideration from the others surrounding them and the real mental conflicts of those surrounding people.

Let’s think together about the state of relationships between those who are sexual minorities and those who are not.

On top of the 3 screenings of the film, the film’s director Mr. Shun Nakagawa will come as a special guest to have a talk event after the final screening.
Please do not miss the precious chance to talk directly with the director about the film!

If you missed the theatrical release, are interested in LGBT issues or are really keen on films, please join us!

Story

One day in a high school 2nd year class, suddenly there was a lesson held with the topic about “LGBT”.
However, other classes did not have this lesson and so doubts were raised among the students.
“Could there be LGBT people in our class?”
The ripples spread in the everyday life of the students …
What will come from this adolescent mental conflict?
