Commenting Policy At The Search Engine Roundtable

Comments Policy

The Search Engine Roundtable is one of the few blogs that continue to allow commenting by its readers and we value those who comment here. We request that the comments remain professional and on topic. Here are some high level rules and pieces of advice you should consider before commenting.

  • Etiquette - Be polite and stay on topic. Avoid self-promotion. Do not personally attack any individual or group of individuals.  No name calling. No bigotry. Be respectful. Be professional.
  • Expectations - Your comment will be removed if it is pure spam (like link drops, etc). Your comment will be removed if it attacks any individual for any reason.
  • Privacy - Don’t post personal information, not about yourself and not about others.
  • Moderation Settings - Disqus has many moderation methods it uses to auto-remove comments, based on language, links and other factors.
  • Manual moderation - We try to go through the comments a few times per day to find any comments that were removed by the spam filters that should not have. We also try to go through the comments a few times a day to remove any comments that are hateful, have personal attacks or are completely off topic.
  • Let us know - if you see a comment that should be removed or that was not posted and you are curious why, let us know.

We understand that Google and search engines can make or break businesses. We understand that SEO is a stressful profession. We understand some of you are in pain after getting hit by ranking changes.  But do not take it out on individual Googlers or any individual.  If you really need an outlet, you can attack Barry Schwartz, the main author on this site.
