CARE AT HOME
Eight simple tips for looking after your Piaget watch.
-
Your mechanical watch will enjoy being wound up every day to keep its movement in motion.
For a manual winding watch, turn the crown until it resists, without forcing it.
For a self-winding (automatic) watch, we recommend at least 20 turns of the crown
If you notice any of those signs (examples) :
- watch running fast or slow (mechanical watches): a demagnetisation may be required
- watch stopped: for a quartz watch a battery replacement or complete service is needed
For a mechanical watch : movement may be used (service recommended every 8 years) or damaged (shocks), a complete service is needed.
-
We offer the complimentary replacement of the battery when necessary. We recommend not to let a battery empty for too long to avoid any damage to the movement. As for any mechanical movement, a complete service every 8 years will be recommended to check any battery leakage and oil renewal.
-
Nowadays, magnetics fields are everywhere (wifi, laptops, mobile phones, microwaves, connected devices...). The exposure of a mechanical watch (manual or automatic winding) to magnetic fields may interfere with its normal operation. It will not damage the movement but affect its accuracy.
Keeping your watch away from magnetic fields will preserve its precision.
In case of doubt, our team can run a quick analysis and demagnetisation during a check-up privilege free service (in the boutiques eqquiped).
Quartz watches are only affected when placed directly on a magnetic device. Once out of the field, the accuracy will return to normal.
-
Take your watch off before you swim in seawater or use cosmetics. To clean your watch case and metal bracelet, simply wipe with a little soapy water (on waterproof watch only) and dry with a soft cloth.
For all waterproof watches at 5 ATM or 10 ATM, you can rinse them with clean water.
-
Protect your watch by removing it when carrying out activities involving strong vibrations or impacts (i.e. sports like tennis or golf…)
Your watch will keep its accuracy as long as you preserve it from intense thermal shocks (sauna, hammam…) as well as a direct exposure to sunlight.
-
The manual correction of the date will be sensitive to the position of the hands (there is a risk of internal damage if the change happens between 10 pm and 2 am).
When setting the date, place your hands at 6, run the date until D-1 then adjust to the time and date wanted to avoid any disruption on the movement.
-
When not on your wrist, your watch should remain in a safe, dry place, protected from light.
-
Help keep the strap of your watch look like new by following a few care tips:
For leather straps avoid the following:
Frequent contact with water
Exposure to excessive humidity
Prolonged exposure to sunlight
Contact with cosmetics and oily materials
For rubber straps, avoid:
Nail varnish Prolonged exposure to sunlight
We advise to store your Gala watches on the side (3h or 9h) to preserve the uniqueness of its design and avoid to store them flat.
-
On the back of the watch, you will find engraved the waterproof resistance of your watch.
3 ATM will protect your watch from hands washing, rain and perspiration
5 ATM will allow you to splashing around and gently swim with the rest of the family
10 ATM will support energizing swim
In any case, we do not recommend to keep a watch under hot water (shower or spa). The hot temperature may alter the gaskets.
If your watch shows condensation trace, water may have infiltrated the movement, a waterproof resistance renewal or complete service may be required.

CARE FOR YOUR ORNEMENTAL STONES
Precious and ornamental stones are extremely present in the Piaget DNA, and therefore also in many of our creations. These stones are mostly mineral, and demand particular care.
To preserve the beauty of your stone, we advise you to avoid putting it in contact with perfume, soap, chemical products or cosmetics. Exposure to water or high temperatures should also be avoided. When you wish to clean the stone, you should do it with a soft dry cloth. To avoid scratches when storing your creation, it is best to do so in its original box, separate from other jewelry.
If, despite your care, your jewelry remains dull and the gems lacklustre, take it to your Piaget dealer.
