Decarbonized and Sustainable Society Research Program

The goal of the Decarbonized and Sustainable Society Research Program is to present a vision and principle of a decarbonized and sustainable society at the global and national levels while ensuring the intergenerational equity.

To realize this goal, we will identify the long-term requirements for a decarbonized and sustainable society on a global scale. In addition to the global scale analyses, by taking into account the current national development stages, we will also identify the necessary actions and institutions at the national level, to develop a decarbonized and sustainable society in Asian countries including Japan. We utilize our integrated assessment model to evaluate the necessary countermeasures on the global and national levels.

Based on these quantitative and narrative results, we develop medium- to long-term roadmaps for achieving a decarbonized and sustainable society both globally and nationally, thereby contributing to the various efforts towards this goal.

This research program consists of the following three research projects;
Project 1: Simultaneous Achievement of Global Decarbonization and Sustainability
Project 2: Quantification of National Decarbonization and Sustainable Society Scenarios
Project 3: Establishing a Regime Inclusive of Future Generations in a Sustainable Society.
