Research and Innovation Support

We work in partnership with local research administrators in our faculties, schools, institutes and other research units as well as other professional service units.

What we do

Professional services colleagues provide advice to the University's academic community across a range of functions. These include:

  • the identification of external research funding opportunities
  • supporting the development of applications
  • drafting contracts
  • intellectual property management
  • company creation
  • oversight of relevant policies and procedures including research ethics and governance in clinical and non-clinical research
  • oversight of the University's research and innovation IT management systems
  • co-ordination of the University's REF, KEF and HE-BCIS submissions
  • the shaping and implementation of the University's research and innovation strategy

This is by no means an exhaustive list but demonstrates the breadth of activities carried out by the research and innovation team.

We also manage any internal and external reviews of research including the Research Excellence Framework (REF) strategy, planning and submission.
