SIM Card Re-registration - my.t mobile

As per the Information and Communication Technologies (Registration of SIM) Regulations 2023, all SIM card holders are required to re-register their SIM cards.

Failure to do so may result in deactivation and the risk of losing their phone number. Please ensure the re-registration process is completed before the deadline to avoid any inconvenience.

Documents to be submitted

Mauritian Citizens

  1. Copy of your National Identity Card or Passport details
  2. Copy of recent proof of address (not later than 3 months)

Non-Citizens

  1. Copy of your passport
  2. Copy of residence/occupation permit
  3. Copy of recent proof of address (not later than 3 months)

Documents to be submitted

Mauritian Citizens

  1. National Identity Card or Passport details
  2. Recent Proof of address not later than 3 months
    (e.g. CWA/MT/CEB/Bank Statement/Landlord letter)

Non-Citizens

  1. Passport
  2. Residence/Occupation Permit
  3. Recent Proof of address not later than 3 months
    (e.g. CWA/MT/CEB/Bank Statement/Landlord letter)

Tourist

  1. Passport / any valid travel document
  2. Proof of address
    (e.g. booking of hotel or letter of accommodation)

The Regulation requires that all SIM users, both existing and new, register their SIMs with their respective mobile network operators. In accordance with the new Regulation, new registration and/or re-registration process will require the SIM holder to provide the following:

  • National ID card / Passport
  • Proof of address (e.g., a recent Utility bill)
  • A selfie (for verification purposes)

and personal information with official database.  

The Regulation will be effective as from 31st October 2023 and applies to all SIM holders, both local and foreign, and companies using SIM Cards purchased in the Republic of Mauritius.

SIM cards include physical SIM, eSIM, M2M SIM (tablets, smartwatches, Point of Sales (POS) mobile dongles, cameras and IOT devices such as smart meters among others).

Henceforth, new customers purchasing a SIM card will have to register the SIM before its activation by providing their NID / Passport, proof of address and a photo capture. For existing my.t mobile customers, every holder will have to re-register their SIMs on https://myt.mu/re-registration by latest 30th April 2024. Failing to do so will lead to the automatic deactivation of SIM cards. 

The Regulation covers all types of SIMs: physical SIM, eSIM, M2M SIM (tablets, smartwatches, Point of Sales (POS), mobile dongles, cameras and IOT devices such as smart meters among others).

As from 31st October 2023, all new customers will have to register their SIM before its activation. This can be done:

  • In a Telecom Shop
  • At the authorised agent of Cellplus Mobile Communications Ltd while purchasing the SIM card
