Membership

The Meteorological  Society of Japan (MSJ) is open to all individuals and organizations interested in atmospheric science, weather, climate, and related science and technology. No references are required to become a member.

The categories for individual members are General, Student and Senior(65 or over).:

  • All individual members are sent a Japanese-language print version of the Meteorological Society of Japan (MSJ) journal, titled Tenki.

The categories for organizational members are A, B and C.: 

  • Category A members are sent a Japanese-language print version of the Meteorological Society of Japan (MSJ) journal, titled Tenki.
  • Category B members are sent print versions of Tenki and the Journal of the Meteorological Society of Japan (JMSJ). JMSJ is an international, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal for the publication of research in areas of meteorology, and the print version is distributed bimonthly.
  • Category C members are sent a print version of JMSJ.

Annual membership fees cover the calendar year. If you join the Society in the middle of the year, your membership fees will be prorated.

Standard postage is included in the annual fee for each category. Airmail and registered mail options are available and are detailed below.

All members enjoy the benefit of a discount to the Article Processing Charge for JMSJ. Full details are in the JMSJ Instructions to Authors.
