This Cookie Notice (“this Notice”) explains how Lotame Solutions, Inc. (“Lotame,” “we”, “our” or “us”) uses cookies and other similar technologies to recognize when you visit websites that we own and operate at https://www.lotame.com and https://spherical-demo-site.webflow.io/ (“Sites”). This Notice describes what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them. Let’s start from the beginning for context. What are cookies? Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website using a browser. Cookies are widely used by website owners to make their websites work as expected or better, as well as to provide reporting information. Cookies are simply a way for a website to “remember” your activity or input previously engaged in on a website and your preferences for that website. If you shop on a website, a cookie allows the website to remember the items you’ve added to your shopping cart. If you set preferences on a website, a cookie allows the website to remember your preferences for the next time you visit. Or if you sign into a website, the website might use a cookie to recognize your browser later, so that you don’t have to sign in again. Cookies also enable websites to collect data about user activity, such as how many unique visitors a page receives per month or what articles you have read to recommend similar articles. All these applications depend on the information stored in cookies.
Cookies are also used to improve advertising. Some common applications are to target advertising based on what’s relevant to a user, to improve reporting on campaign performance, and to avoid showing ads the user has already seen. For example, the website can use cookies to remember things like: how many times you saw a given ad or what type of content interests you so more relevant advertising can be shown or interactions with the ads measured.
Most cookies contain a unique identifier called a cookie ID: a string of characters that websites associate with the browser on which the cookie is stored, for example, COOKIE_ID=ABC123. This allows websites to distinguish the browser from other browsers that store different cookies, and to recognize each browser by its unique cookie ID.
Cookies are categorized as third-party or first-party depending on whether they are associated with the domain of the site a user visits. Cookies set by the website owner/operator (in this case, Lotame) are called “first-party cookies.” Cookies set by parties other than the website owner/operator are called “third-party cookies.” Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through our Sites (e.g., advertising, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits our Sites in question and also when it visits certain other websites.
What about other browser data storage technologies, like web beacons, local storage, and local shared objects?
Cookies are not the only way that we recognize visitors to our Sites. We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called “tracking pixels,” “pixel tags,” or “clear gifs”). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enables us to recognize when someone has visited our Sites or opened an email including them. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within our Sites to another, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to the Site from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of email marketing campaigns. In many instances, web beacons are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.
Our Sites may also use Local Shared Objects (“LSOs” and sometimes called “Flash Cookies”) and browser local storage to, among other things, collect and store information about your use of our Sites, fraud prevention, and for other Site operations. If you do not want LSOs stored on your computer, you can adjust the settings of your Flash player to block LSOs using the tools contained in the Website Storage Settings panel of your Flash player. You can also control Flash Cookies by going to the Global Storage Settings panel of your Flash player and following the instructions (which may include instructions that explain, for example, how to delete existing Flash Cookies (referred to “information” on the Macromedia site), how to prevent Flash LSOs from being placed on your computer without your being asked, and (for Flash Player 8 and later) how to block Flash Cookies that are not being delivered by the operator of the page you are on at the time). Please note that setting the Flash Player to restrict or limit acceptance of Flash Cookies may reduce or impede the functionality of some Flash applications, including, potentially, Flash applications used in connection with our services or online content. Although we use these other technologies, we use the term “cookies” to refer to all of forms of storing information on your browser in this Notice.
We use cookies to personalize your experience, analyze user trends, and improve and market our Services. Cookies allow us to collect information such as your browser type, interactions with our Sites, non-precise geographic location, your web request, the date and time of your web request, your IP Address, and other information.
You can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse to accept cookies and you can also clear your cookies, but by doing so the functionality of our Sites will be limited. For example, we may not be able to recognize your browser, and you may need to set your Cookie preferences every time you visit. We use the following types of cookies on our Sites. Other than “essential or necessary cookies,” we will only place cookies on your device where you have consented to us doing so (except where otherwise permitted by law). Note some of the cookies described below are temporary and deleted as soon as you close your browser. These are known as “session cookies.” Other cookies are stored on your device until they expire or you remove them. These are known as “persistent cookies.”
