Congratulations to my colleagues at Google Quantum AI and Google DeepMind -- continuing to lead on quantum computing with this most recent publication in a paper published in Nature, in which they introduced AlphaQubit, an AI-based decoder that identifies quantum computing errors with state-of-the-art accuracy. Accurately identifying errors is a critical step towards making quantum computers capable of performing long computations at scale, opening the doors to scientific breakthroughs and many new areas of discovery. https://lnkd.in/eZaATfWT
As technology's role in our lives grows, so do the risks of online scams, particularly for older adults. Laurie Richardson, VP of Trust & Safety at Google, and Kathy Stokes, Director of Fraud Prevention Programs at AARP discuss how Google and AARP are working to address this challenge through building safer technology and equipping older adults with the information and tools they need to stay safe online. The #ForbesCIO Next List: 2024 If the future of business is AI, then these are the people leading the charge. As artificial intelligence continues its march into the mainstream — generating billions in investment and research — it has gained particular traction in enterprise. Almost two-thirds of organizations say they’re now using AI in at least one business function, up from a third last year, according to a May report from consulting giant McKinsey. And 67% expect their companies to invest even more in AI over the next three years. Full list: https://lnkd.in/ehZwiyfd
In just the past few years, breakthroughs in artificial intelligence have dramatically accelerated the pace of scientific discovery — from accelerating drug discovery to designing new materials for clean energy technologies. Here’s a look at nine recent moments that have set the stage for so much of the scientific progress on the horizon: https://goo.gle/3Z0nKYr

Federal agencies have been rapidly adopting AI to better serve their missions, but there’s a lack of access and adoption at the local government level. As part of our commitment to ensure the opportunities of AI are widely accessible to all, we’ve partnered with the National League of Cities to provide city governments with an AI Toolkit.⚒️ This toolkit is designed to empower U.S. cities to leverage AI to enhance public services and quality of life for their communities. Read here to learn more on how we’re working to bridge the gap in AI adoption:

One of the most profound ways AI will improve lives is by accelerating science and discovery. This week, Demis Hassabis, James Manyika, and other Google leaders hosted our first-ever AI for Science Forum to share some of our recent progress here - from our work on the Nobel Prize-winning AlphaFold, which cracked the “grand challenge” of protein structure prediction, to connectomics research that helped map a tiny portion of the human brain in unprecedented detail to support health research, and much more. AI research breakthroughs are leading to real-world benefits, for example: improvements to our AI model can now accurately predict floods days earlier than previously possible, while our high-resolution satellite imagery can help firefighters spot wildfires before they grow out of control. To help others expand their impact, we're launching a $20 million fund to support academic and nonprofit organizations who are using AI to advance scientific breakthroughs. This is on top of the more than $200 million Google.org has provided for this work over the last five years. AI has massive potential to benefit the world, so we are acting boldly to apply it as quickly as we can, while doing so responsibly. A huge thank you to all of the organizations and researchers around the world driving this important work forward. More details here: https://lnkd.in/eUdFkANW
