Companies use surveys for all sorts of things. Customer satisfaction and feedback, product direction and features, and, employee sentiment. Dell Technologies has surveyed their employees for years tracking numerous things including the eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score): "At least one of the metrics used is the employee net promoter score (eNPS) which measures the extent to which an employee would recommend Dell as a place to work. " Dell's eNPS seems to be struggling: "In the latest ‘Tell Dell’ results, the company-wide eNPS score - calculated by subtracting the percentage of 'detractors' from the percentage of 'promoters' - dropped from 62 to 48." and "Some areas of the business were more deeply affected. In Dell’s global marketing department, the eDPS [sic] score dropped by 68% and was even approaching or at zero in certain smaller divisions." More concerning (to me, as a non-Dell employee) is the fact that it appears no one actually cares. I'm sure everyone who has filled out one of these sort of survey at the company they work for will be shocked, absolutely shocked by this. How many companies ask their employees opinion and when they don't get the answers they want simply ignore the feedback ignoring it? Not all of them but definitely not none of them. "Despite the evident staff uproar, however, it is not clear the extent to which Dell plans to improve the current eNPS score.  'It's as if every leader was given the OK to ignore it,' one employee told Business Insider regarding the firm’s response to the survey. Multiple staff members agreed that Dell’s leadership seemed to ignore the eNPS result.  'I don't think leadership cares about our feedback. They just keep rowing in whatever direction they want,' said another staff member." I don't know if Dell really doesn't care about their employees feedback but based on my read it sure seems like it. I wonder how long they will remain successful if their employees (you know, the resources often touted as the most valuable and important to any company) are this unhappy. #enps #employeesatisfaction #employeesurvey #disgruntledemployees

Dell Technologies has announced a significant strategic shift, with a new round of layoffs impacting about 10% of its workforce, totaling approximately 12,500 employees. The focus of these cuts is primarily on the sales teams, including long-tenured staff members. Senior executives Bill Scannell and John Byrne highlighted the company's move towards artificial intelligence (AI) products and services in their memo, "Global Sales Modernization Update. " The restructuring aims at becoming leaner, with a focus on streamlining management layers and reallocating investments. Affected employees are set to receive a severance package that includes two months' wages and an additional week for each year of service, up to a maximum of 26 weeks. Thoughts of a working mom #23 - From Loneliness to Leadership: Building Connections That Matter 🌟 Last week, I was honored to receive the Cisco “Back to Business Manager Award” 🏆 and be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The recognition was profoundly rewarding, yet nothing brings me greater satisfaction as a leader than the genuine appreciation and feedback from my team ❤️. Reflecting on my journey over the past decade, I remember the complexities of early leadership. Despite leading a team of 12 direct reports, I often felt a sense of isolation—an experience encapsulated by the phrase, "It's lonely at the top." Caught between superiors who dictate strategy and the teams I supervise, I struggled with the absence of colleagues to share my challenges with. This loneliness is detrimental; it can lead to emotional exhaustion, resulting in sleep problems, irritability, impaired reasoning, and diminished self-control. As I took on more responsibility, the dynamics shifted. My efforts became less visible and more abstract, and I realized that the attention I once received as an individual contributor had diminished. This realization marked a pivotal moment in my leadership journey. I understood that the key to overcoming feelings of isolation lay within me—not in external circumstances. 💡 Today, I recognize that effective leadership is rooted in building robust relationships 🤝. As senior leaders, our success is intrinsically linked to the contributions of others. It is our responsibility to craft and communicate a compelling vision that inspires enthusiasm and engagement. Additionally, we must create supportive environments that remove obstacles to success.
