Meet the Acting U.S. Attorney

Jeffrey P. Ray was appointed as the Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri on Feb. 13, 2025.

Mr. Ray grew up on a dairy farm near Mount Vernon, Mo., before obtaining his undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and UMKC Law School, respectively. After 10 years in private practice, Mr. Ray joined the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office in 1998 and became Civil Chief in 2011.  He and his wife have one son and three grandchildren.
