Shii condemns N. Korea’s nuclear test
January 6, 2016
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on January 6 issued the following statement condemning North Korea’s nuclear test:
North Korea on January 6 announced that it has “conducted a hydrogen bomb test”. North Korea’s nuclear test totally runs counter to efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region and the world and also violates the 2005 Six-Party Joint Statement, the 2002 Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration, and the repeated UN Security Council resolutions which call on North Korea to abandon its nuclear program. The JCP severely denounces this outrageous act.
We strongly call on the international community to unite to strengthen political, diplomatic efforts in response to this action and take effective measures to have North Korea abandon its nuclear weapons program.
