Senior Director, North American Government and Regulatory Affairs

Biography

I am the Senior Director, North American Government and Regulatory Affairs for the Internet Society. I am passionate about analyzing how government actions could impact the Internet and drive advocacy efforts to grow, protect, and defend an Internet for everyone.

Prior to joining the Internet Society, I was founder and lead consultant of Campbell Communications, a strategic communications agency specializing in policy advocacy, political campaigns, and working with Indigenous communities to promote community-led Internet access solutions. I have also worked at the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, where I helped establish the first Canadian Internet Governance Forum.

My roots in journalism have given me a passion for plain language and helping people understand how government and business decisions about the Internet can impact our lives. My recent research has focused on the splinternet, examining how different paths could lead the Internet to this worse-case scenario. I’m also interested in new solutions to promote child safety online that don’t undermine encryption.

When I'm not at at work, you can find me knitting, cycling, and trying to sneak more plants into my house without my family noticing.
