Dear INRCers,

It is with heavy, grieving hearts that we send news of the passing of Dr. Emily Jutkiewicz, Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Education in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Jutkiewicz also held the Pfizer Upjohn Research Professor of Translational Pharmacology Chair.

She has been part of INRC since she was a trainee herself and received the INRC Young Investigator award in 2019, an award emphasizing her great contributions to the opioid field. More recently, Emily served on the Executive Committee prior to organizing a very successful meeting this summer 2024 in Ann Arbor.

The funeral will be held this Friday, September 27th.

We set up a donation page in honor to Emily. As Emily was a strong advocate for trainees in her lab, her department and INRC, the funds collected will be used to support trainee travel awards in Emily’s name to attend INRC 2025 in Bologna, Italy. The INRC Executive Committee extend their condolences to Emily’s family, friends and colleagues. Losing Emily from the opioid research community is so tough. We will miss her.

OUR MISSION

The International Narcotics Research Conference (INRC) is an international forum for pre-clinical and clinical researchers to strengthen our knowledge of opioid pharmacology and function.  Our society provides the opportunity to share cutting edge and pioneering advancements related to all disciplines of opioid research. The INRC meetings are a platform for the design of evidence-based guidance for constructive use of opioids for pain management, and understanding of opioid misuse and abuse.
