IMO –
the International Maritime Organization – is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships. IMO's work supports the UN sustainable development goals.
A national seminar in Funafuti, Tuvalu (11-13 November) is focusing on how to support smooth, efficient shipping in the country, through maritime digitalization and accession to the FAL Convention.
Security personnel working at Madagascar’s major ports have received vital training on how to identify potential security threats and take action to prevent risks to port facilities.
Maritime professionals from small island development states (SIDS) and least developed countries (LDCs) have completed intensive sustainable maritime transport training in Busan, Republic of Korea (4-8 November).
