留学生と小田原・箱根フィールドリップに行ってきました！
Field Trip in Odawara and Hakone with International Students

2024年3月19日、留学生と小田原・箱根フィールドトリップに行ってきました。荒木一郎教授のご引率のもと、JICA研修生（国際社会科学府国際経済法学専攻）計14名が参加しました。

キャンパスを出発して、バスで一路小田原・箱根方面へ。バス車内では荒木教授の小田原・箱根にまつわる歴史や観光資源の解説に興味深くうなずく留学生たちの姿がありました。

小田原城では小田原の歴史を学び、天守閣からの眺望も満喫しました。
青空のもと、白く佇む小田原城の美しさに見とれ、何枚も写真を撮っていました。

その後漁港の駅Totoco小田原へ。小田原の地域資源である海産物・海産物加工品をはじめ、地元農産物の販売を視察しました。また、海鮮丼に挑戦する学生や、相模湾が見えるテラス席でピザを頬張る学生、思い思いのランチタイムを満喫しました。

午後には芦ノ湖畔に佇む箱根関所へ。江戸時代を再現した建物や当時の道具を見学しました。学生達からは関所の役割や機能に関しての質問が飛び交いました。

箱根関所で歴史を体感したあとは、箱根寄木細工体験へ。工房の方のご指導を受け、箱根の伝統工芸である寄木細工のコースター作りに挑戦しました。真剣な表情でデザインを決め、ボンドで木のパーツを組み合わせていきます。出来上がったコースターを見てご満悦の学生達でした。

都会の喧騒から少し離れて自然の中で地域文化を学んだ留学生達。普段とは違う、リラックスした表情が印象的でした。日本でのよい思い出になったようです。

On March 19, 2024, international students joined a field trip to Odawara and Hakone led by Professor Ichiro Araki. Fourteen international students from the Graduate School of International Social Sciences participated in the trip.

We took a bus from campus to Odawara and Hakone. During the journey on the bus, the students enjoyed Professor Araki's lecture about Odawara and Hakone's history and local tourist resources.

At Odawara Castle, they learned about the history of Odawara and enjoyed the pleasant view from the castle tower. We then went to Totoco Odawara, a fishing port station, where we could see the marine and local agricultural products that are Odawara's regional resources. Some students ate seafood rice bowls during lunchtime, while others enjoyed pizza on the terrace overlooking Sagami Bay.

In the afternoon, we visited the Hakone Sekisho (Facility for inspection) located on the shore of Lake Ashi. The students walked around the buildings that depict the Edo period and saw the tools used in those days. Students asked many questions about the role and function of the inspection facility.

Then we went to the Hakone Yosegizaiku (wooden mosaic) Workshop.
Yosegizaiku is a traditional art craft in Hakone area. Under the guidance of the instructor, the students made original Yosegizaiku coasters.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, students learned about local culture and history while enjoying the nature of Odawara and Hakone. It was a memorable and joyful day for everyone.
