Jarred Land Interview about new KOMODO-X
The last time we saw Jarred Land holding the KOMODO for FDTimes was in a cover photo that just happened to be taken by Brad Pitt in Los Angeles. This time, Jarred is holding the new KOMODO-X in the trendy fashion film and photo stages at Pier 59 in New York, this time taken by me. His interview begins, “We call the new camera KOMODO-X and it’s not a KOMODO 2. KOMODO-X gives you twice the frame rates of KOMODO (up to 80 fps at 6K 17:9 and 120 fps at 4K 17:9). Jarred explains, “Yes, it hard to believe that the KOMODO isn’t actually official nor commercially for sale yet in production form. It is vacant from RED.com and we are just ramping up to get ready for traditional manufacturing. And yet it is a camera that everyone seems to be already shooting… read more…

Angénieux Type EZ Zooms: FF and S35
Here are two new, convertible, compact zooms from Thales Angénieux. They cover both Super35 and Full Frame/VistaVision. This is a new paradigm for Angénieux: an affordable zoom lens filling the gap between the DSLR and Cinema lenses for the growing corporate, documentary and owner-operator markets. At IBC, Angénieux debuts two models. Type EZ-1 is a standard 3x zoom. Type EZ-2 is a wide-angle 2.7x zoom. Both lenses have exchangeable rear lens groups and hence the ability to be swapped between Super35mm format and Full Frame/VistaVision. read more…
