Cooke Panchro 65/i Lens Series
Who said there aren’t enough lenses for 65mm format?
November 12, 2024. Cooke Optics announced their Panchro 65/i Lens Series—designed specifically for 65mm Larger Format digital cinema cameras.
The Panchro 65/i series will include six focal lengths:
30mm T2.8, 40mm T2.8, 55mm T2.5, 75mm T2.5, 100mm T2.5, and 152mm T2.9.
They all stop down to T22 and are equipped with Cooke’s latest intelligent /i technology. The Panchro 65/i series is lightweight across the range (1.8 kg to 2.3 kg). read more…
Canon L Lenses with Iris & Zoom Marks
Canon continues an industry trend of hybrid still/cine lenses with manual iris and zoom marks as well as having autofocus and auto iris.
The new RF24mm F1.4 L VCM and RF50mm F1.4 L VCM primes are fast (f/1.4), compact (3.9 inches long) Full Frame RF-mount lenses.
Things get really interesting with Canon’s new RF70-200 F2.8 L IS USM Z zoom lenses. read more…
iodyne Pro Mini: smart drive
If you’re a DIT, DP, AC, creator or crew rushing to download the day’s footage onto an off-the-shelf SSD, you know that heat can also slow transfers down, often to a frustrating crawl.

Canon introduces the new Cinema EOS C80 Camera.
Full Frame, RF mount, compact and lightweight, it has a 6K (26.67 Megapixel) sensor that measures 36.0 x 19.0 mm (40.7 mm diagonal). And look—it has a 4K 12G SDI Output BNC!
You could say this is the inevitable successor to the Cinema EOS C70 Camera that came out four years ago—September 2020. The C70 was the first RF mount Cinema EOS Camera. It became a breakthrough success because its Super35 4K sensor was similar to the Canon EOS C300 Mark III and yet it came in a much smaller body, albeit with fewer capabilities. read more…

It will be like a walking tour (kit scavenger hunt? pub crawl?) of trendy Fitzrovia. Your waypoints are four company showrooms, kitted out with the latest equipment and presumably hydrating and nourishing refreshments. I still have trouble thinking of kit as equipment and not a toy model. A quick detour via OED cites T. E. Lawrence (after Arabia), “Sergeant take this man to the Q.M. Stores, kit him at once, and put him into the first train…”

DJI Focus Pro, RS 4 Pro & RS 4
DJI PRO has three interesting new products to keep scenes steady and in focus: DJI RS 4 Pro, DJI RS 4, and DJI Focus Pro. They are intuitive, work together, setup quickly, and provide advanced focus control.
DJI Focus Pro includes Automated Manual Focus (AMF) control.
DJI RS 4 Pro is the new, top-of-line RS (Ronin Single-handle) gimbal stabilizer that, among other features, supports heavier payloads and has carbon fiber arms.
DJI RS 4 is a more affordable stabilizer for lighter payloads. read more…

ZEISS launches Nano Primes: Full Frame, fast (T1.5), lightweight and compact cine lenses. They have nice ZEISS notoriously accurate lined focus scales and marks and are amazingly affordable.

RED V-RAPTOR [X] & V-RAPTOR XL [X] Global Shutter
RED DIGITAL CINEMA announced new V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV and V-RAPTOR XL [X] 8K VV cameras. Both models now have Full Frame VV global shutter sensors.
RED introduced global shutter in October 2020 on the KOMODO which has a Super35 global shutter. With a global shutter, all the photosites of the sensor are exposed simultaneously. A global shutter is good when you’re filming fast movement or explosions, fire, flashes, strobes, stunt sequences and even handheld work. With a rolling shutter, you might get artifacts from flashes, skewing and bending of objects. read more…
Sony FX3 and Wooden Camera Accessories
Once upon a time, FDTimes wrote, “The Sony FX3 camera’s cage-free design begs you to mount it anywhere—in all kinds of places where a single mounting point wouldn’t dare to thread. FX3 is free to range almost everywhere because it is small, light and ergonomic. I should have expected that calling it “cage-free” implied you don’t need a cage, and that is like asking a child not to jump in the nearest puddle. Of course there would be a cage and clever accessories—and they are now here from Wooden Camera.

Leica Cine 1 Projector
Far-off adventures and family trips were inevitably followed by a slide show at home. It was a ritual.
