The cover reflects IBC attendees coming from around the globe to visit the RAI and Amsterdam. You can see this Terrestrial Globe in the Rijksmuseum. It was in Room 2.15 when I took this photo.

The Terrestrial Globe (1645 – 1648) was made by Willem Janszoon Blaeu. He and his son were famous cartographers. The globes that they made were not only practical, but also were works of art. They included the latest discoveries of distant lands, including “Nieu Nederland” (New York). There remained many areas still unexplored by Europeans at that time. For example, only a small section of the Australian coast had been charted – by Dutchmen – as the name ‘Hollandia Nova’ indicates.
