Cine Gear LA 2024 exhibits opened on June 7 and 8 at Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, CA.
Canon launched their new C400 camera.
Panasonic introduced the new LUMIX GH7 with internal Apple ProRes RAW and ARRI LogC3 recording.
Preston Cinema Systems launched their new MDR-5.
Best lit set at Cine Gear was Sony’s—lighting by DP Logan Schneider and crew.
But it was also a week of additional activities: setup for exhibitors, parties, events, open houses, and new product introductions.
Creative Solutions Burbank hosted a party in their open-air area, attended by a who’s who of Cine Gear exhibitors.
The annual Saturday after-party was at the ASC. A quick dash from Warner Bros over the hills to Hollywood for the cocktails and BBQ for anyone who didn’t have to tear down their booths and pack away equipment.
Tiffen opened their Burbank facility on Sunday, June 9 with a Steadicam and Stabilizer Day and one of the best pizza trucks in LA.
SIGMA Burbank, a few blocks away, had equipment displays, hands-on time with experts, luminaries including Nick Ut and Magnum photographers, and a smoky-delicious BBQ.
I liked being at Warner Bros. The studio staff were helpful and friendly. The lots was big, fun and historic. In the 1920s, the brothers Warner bought the land in Burbank and moved from their studio from Sunset Blvd. For the next 100 years, it expanded with new stages, backlot sets, offices, post-production suites, a good cafeteria and an even better commissary. I hope we return there next year.
