Cultural properties are invaluable assets for the people of Japan. We pass them down to the next generation, and take initiative to make them publicly available and promote engagement.
As well as promoting Japanese culture overseas and encouraging international cultural exchange, we also collaborate internationally to support the protection of cultural properties in other countries.
We promote Japanese language education for foreigners, and the consolidation of Japanese writing systems such as the joyo kanji-hyo (official list of kanji in common use) and gendai kanazukai (modern kana usage, contemporary Japanese syllabic writing) .
