Acceptable Use Policy

OpenStreetMap has few hard and fixed use policies (Fair use policy). Some, like the type of acceptable contribution (free from copyright etc.) are engrained, others, such as fair use of map tiles by third party applications, are designed to permit and encourage development of applications that use OpenStreetMap data while ensuring that the experience for general users is not impacted. If you are unsure about what the OpenStreetMap community believes is acceptable or not, please communicate via contact channels / osm-dev mailing list(s).
