United Spinal's Donor Privacy Policy

United Spinal Association respects your right to influence how your personal information is used after making a donation. The following applies to all donors regardless of how the donation originated: Online website donation, social media, mailed check, e-check, credit card swipe, cash donation.
What Donor Information Do We Collect?
- Contribution amount.
- First and last name of donor and joint donor if any.
- Donation frequency (if recurring).
- Address.
- Email address (online donations).
- Telephone number (not mandatory).
- Credit card data including: Name on card, card number, expiration date, verification code, address on card.
This information is used by our third party credit card transaction service to process donation(s) and to verify credit card data. We use your email address to send a tax-deductible receipt(s) (online donations only). Phone numbers (when submitted) are used only to contact donors if we need to verify information and occasionally to thank donors for a contribution.
United Spinal Association utilizes a secure third-party service provider for transacting and storing donor and transactional data. United Spinal Association stores no credit card information in their in-house systems. All transaction data, whether from an online donation form, e-check, mailed check, or card swiping device is securely stored by United Spinal’s third party transaction service providers and databasing service.
Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
United Spinal Association may on occasion rent donor lists to third parties that we feel engage in activities that are not inconsistent with United Spinal Association’s mission and core beliefs. The shared information will never exceed name and address of a donor. No other personal information is shared. You may opt out of having your Personal Information shared by United Spinal Association by following the instructions in the “Opt Out of Sharing” section below.
Except as described in this Privacy Policy or at the time we request the information, we do not otherwise disclose your personal information to any third parties.
Donor Access To Transaction Data?
United Spinal Association donors can contact United Spinal Association for any donor related information or to facilitate information changes by going to https://www.unitedspinal.org/contact-us/ where they can obtain a mailing address, phone number, or submit a contact form.
Online recurring donors (timed giving such as monthly, yearly, etc.) can access and change any donor information on a self-serve basis if they choose. All recurring donors have password access to their accounts for purposes of updating information, discontinuing donations, and for changing donation amounts and frequency.
Donor Privacy Policy Changes
The United Spinal Associations Donor Privacy Policy is current as of the date shown at the top of this document. If our policy should change, we will immediately update the policy along with the policy date.
Opt Out of Personal Information Sharing
All of our donors have the right to request that their information not be shared. There are a number of methods by which you can opt out of information sharing. Whichever method is selected, we will require your name and address to accurately identify you in our database.
