The American Board of Medical Specialties’ (ABMS) approval of a four-year extension of the practice pathway in Addiction Medicine. This extension will allow physicians with substantial experience in the practice of Addiction Medicine, but who have not completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Addiction Medicine, to apply for the Addiction Medicine certification exam through the 2025 Exam Cycle.

ASAM has updated its FREE guidance documents and resources to reflect the current environment across multiple areas and a variety of practice settings. Over 15 individual guidance documents are available.

ASAM released its 2020 Advocacy Year in Review, which provides an overview of some of the new policies and resources that ASAM and its State Chapters helped advance in 2020, by working closely with federal and state policy-makers and other key stakeholders.

The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), sent a letter to provide comments on the Interim Final Rule on the Implementation of the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention That Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities (SUPPORT) Act of 2018: Dispensing and Administering Controlled Substances for Medication-Assisted Treatment (the “Interim Final Rule”).

Today the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) commended Congress for yesterday’s passage of several important addiction-related provisions in its bipartisan, end-of-year spending package that will increase Americans’ access to addiction treatment.
