Alumni

With a network of more than 10,000 graduates, the Cronkite School has one of the country’s strongest journalism alumni bases. Cronkite’s alumni network includes leaders at broadcast, digital and print media outlets as well as top public relations agencies and nonprofits around the globe.

Cronkite School alumni regularly give back to their school through charitable giving that helps the school offer students scholarships, state-of-the-art multimedia equipment and in-depth educational experiences. They also show support by helping current students launch their careers through professional internships, job and mentorship opportunities. Every year, alums return to their alma mater to participate in Cronkite Day, a large-scale celebration to honor the legacy of Walter Cronkite. The annual event kicks off Homecoming Weekend on ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus and showcases panel discussions featuring prominent alumni as well as project presentations by current students. The event is one of the ways that the Cronkite School National Board of Advisors helps connect alumni to the school. Board members, spanning seven decades of journalism education, also assist with fundraising and other outreach efforts.

The Cronkite School recognizes distinguished alumni through its Hall of Fame. The school annually selects new members, who are inducted at a special dinner the night before Cronkite Day. Recent inductees include Chicago Tribune editorial writer Marie Dillon, CNN International anchor Becky Anderson and ESPN “Monday Night Football” Director Chip Dean.

Alumni can stay connected through the Cronkite School LinkedIn Page by updating their LinkedIn profile to include "Arizona State University - Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication" under education. They also can create digital portfolios of their work through ASU's digital portfolio platform
