Acting Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity
Marie A. Bernard, M.D.
Dr. Marie A. Bernard serves as acting Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity. In this role, she leads NIH’s effort to promote diversity, inclusiveness, and equity throughout the biomedical research enterprise. She is also Deputy Director of the NIH National Institute on Aging (NIA) and has been involved in a broad variety of NIH activities to further diversity. Dr. Bernard has been recognized with multiple awards for her leadership, including the 2020 NIH Directors Award for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
