Thanksgiving is a national holiday where people come together and reflect on those that they are thankful for. What are you thankful for? This question is often asked during this time. I want to share what I am thankful for. I am thankful for all of my colleagues and my position at the National Down Syndrome Society and my role as the first registered lobbyist with Down syndrome.

I am thankful for all of my friends and family as I wouldn’t be here today without all of their love and support. I am thankful for a roof over my head, food to eat and the clothes on my back. I am very thankful for the love, support and things my parents have done for me. My parents have gone above and beyond for me and I want to make sure that they know how much they mean to me.

For Thanksgiving, we are going to have a lot of people at my aunt’s house to celebrate what we are thankful for. Before we start eating, my aunt Michelle will start out by praying and giving thanks for the food we are about to consume and all the people around the table we are sharing it with.

I encourage everyone to reflect on what you are thankful for this season and tell those that matter to you how much you appreciate them.

Happy Thanksgiving!
