Abstract
The general structure of the Teletex protocols, which complies with the ISO OSI reference model and covers the functional range of layers 1 to 6, allows a wide variety of applications in the field of non-voice communication and obviates the need for substantial extensions and in some cases makes all extensions unnecessary. The aim of this paper is to show that the Teletex protocols are a suitable basis for general-purpose protocols for Open Systems Interconnection.
