Abstract

Service heterogeneity, decentralized storage, expanded resource are common issues in digital library development. The article starts with an introduction of the features of virtualization technology application in hardware resource sharing and dynamic allocation. 4 layers of virtualization technology application are illustrated. Then the logical framework and physical architecture of the server and storage virtualization project are analyzed, and project planning and deployment process are further discussed. It is concluded with practical evidences that the server and storage virtualization technologies provide effective solution to those issues faced by digital library development.
