Abstract
There are many definitions for the term software library in computer science, e. g., “a collection of program components that can be used in many programs” by Plauger [640]. However, we should regard the term “component” here in a most general way, without the special meanings it is associated with in software engineering. Also, being a loose collection is not enough. The parts of the library should seamlessly work together and complement each other in a reasonable way, addressing related tasks. “Using a program element” is not necessarily limited to calling a function or a method, it includes executing a whole program, for example.
