Abstract
Business model engineering is crucial in the context of convergence of mobile communications and broadcasting. The author presents a stage model of one-seg service evolution from lessons learned with one-seg in Japan. The author focuses awareness on the stages in the complicated relationship between stake-holders. With the examination of the transitions between stages, the author also proposes a three-dimensional fit model for mobile services. The author discusses the chronological order of fit identification during the stage transitions. This service transition with fit exploration and staged view is not specific to one-seg. Therefore, it can be applied to a wide range of mobile service development that incorporates new technological elements. It should be noted that the mobile technology brings a new perspective to service development using mobility. Mobile services require long-term incremental fit exploration which is crucial in mobile service development.
