Abstract
Despite evidence of an increasing trend in the adoption and use of digital technology, recent studies suggest that older adults continue to face significant challenges in surviving in the digital age. There is an urgent need to enhance the digital literacy of older people, so that more of them can enjoy the benefits of digital technology in their later years, with the joint attention of academia and industry. In this opinion paper, I argue for exploring ways and responses to foster digital literacy among older adults from the value co-creation perspective. In particular, promoting digital literacy among older adults requires special attention from families, tech companies, communities, policymakers, and other professions. I call for more action research to investigate theoretical insights and practical implications in digital literacy training for older adults. Research agenda and actionable items are proposed for future discussion.
