Abstract
The paper is devoted to the study of thematic diversity of Russian oral discourse. It examines and analyzes the real-life episodes taken from the corpus of everyday spoken communication “One Day of Speech”. In the course of the study the main hyper-themes of Russian everyday communication have been identified. Each hyper-theme consists of several micro-themes. Based on these empiric data, the frequency of occurrence of various hyper-themes in everyday communication was obtained. For example, it was found that the most frequent themes of the empirical sample turned out to be “work”, “past and future”, “health”, and “household issues”. Statistical data on the duration of conversations on each particular theme have been obtained as well. The results of the study can be used in further studies of Russian oral discourse and for solving a number of practical tasks related with spontaneous conversation understanding, spoken speech topic modelling, as well as creating chatbots for everyday casual conversations.
