Abstract
Potential applications for the visual analysis of people in images and video are numerous. Visual analysis of people forms a central element of applications ranging from security and medicine through to the entertainment industries. This part presents reviews of the state-of-the-art for several application domains. Chapters introduce the problems related to analysis of people for particular application domains. Adaption of the generic approaches introduced in earlier parts is discussed together with techniques developed to address specific problems. Application chapters also provide an insight into current progress and open problems in these domains with guidance for further reading. This part provides reviews of nine different application areas of computer vision to the visual analysis of people ranging from biometrics to 3D motion estimation and reconstruction for sports analysis.
