Abstract
Analysis of digital images requires several steps of processing. Each step results in an appropriate description of the visual information by substantially new identifyable elements, which bear new modelling capabilities for explication of visual information. Four different digital models of visual objects have to be distinguished. They show that visual information contains topology and metric as essential components.
