Abstract
This paper deals with telecommunication service customization, i.e., the capabilities to accommodate services to the user’s requirements and preferences. We tackle a perception of this topic through Internet, IN, TINA, UMTS cases and paradigms. The generic patterns and typical deficiencies are identified. We propose several novel models with ascending customization degrees which reflect the share-out of intelligence between users (customers) and service support systems, as well as ever growing user involvement in service customization process. The proposed levels encompass service options, tailored service composition, dynamic customization based on component (service facet) groups, and active services. We discuss the mechanisms for the suggested customization levels.
