Abstract
In this talk, the speaker will review the history and trends of high-performance computing from the users’ viewpoint. Evolutional milestones in workload, usage modes, programming models and systems architectures will be identified. Essential challenges and bottlenecks will be analyzed. He will highlight the newly formed e-Nation strategy for China of 2006-2020, and summarize R & D efforts in China to provide a high-performance computing infrastructure that could benefit half of the population of China.
