To be able to publish an article on your OJS site, you need “Back Issues” to accommodate / save / display the article.
So here we are going to create a “Back Issues” for your OJS site.

- You must have a role as a Journal manager, Journal editor, or Production editor (at least 1 of these 3 roles you have) to be able to publish announcements.
Q: How do I get the role?
A: You can request a role from the owner of the OJS site or from the Journal manager, Journal editor, or Production editor.
The process #
Creating “Future issues” #
First, open your OJS Dashboard. Then, go to Issues > “Future Issues” -> “Create Issue”.
after that, create the issues you need.
Publish “Future issue” to “Back issue” #
In order for the issue to be seen publicly, we must publish the “Future issue” as Back issue.
Checklist if you want to send notification of new issue publication to everyone registered on your OJS site. If you don’t want people to receive notifications, you can uncheck the list.
The result #
Select “View site” to go to the front page of your journal and you can see the results.
Usage #
An article must be assigned a “Back issue” so that it will appear on the front page of the journal.
Can “Future issues” be shown too? #
And you may be wondering, could “Future issues” also appear on the front page of my journal?
Unfortunately, OJS by default can only show the “Back issue” only. And for now, the PKP (Creator of OJS) has not made a feature that can display “Future Issues” on the front page.
To solve that problem. We have created themes that can feature “Future Issues”, Namely “Novelty Theme” and “Academic Pro Extended Themes”.
