Qualifications & Procedures
The Qualifications and Procedures document provides information on the purpose and composition of the NWA Broadcast Meteorology Committee. The application process to earn an NWA Television/Radio Seal of Approval or an NWA Digital Seal is detailed in the document. Additionally, recertification qualifications and display procedures for NWA Seals of Approval are provided. Note: Early Career 1-5 Members are also eligible to apply for the Seal. Seal Fees
The table below lists all Seal-related fees as of March 12, 2024.
Application Fee | $225 | This is the fee for all first-time applicants. |
Recertification Fee | $175 | All Seal holders are required to recertify by December 31, every three years. |
Reapplication Fee | $150 | This fee is for taking the exam or submitting on-air work for evaluation on a third attempt. |
Reactivation Fee | $150 | This fee applies to inactive Seal holders who wish to reactivate their Seal. |
Late Recertification #1 | $275 | This late fee applies to recertifications submitted between January 1 - February 28/29 in the year following the recertification due date. |
Late Recertification #2 | $375 | This late fee applies to recertifications submitted between March 1 - April 30 in the year following the recertification due date. |
Study Portal
More than 300 MetEd modules produced by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) and presented in 7 categories for the Seal Exam.

Seal Recertification
Recertifications are due Dec. 31, every three years. At least 10 CEUs are required during each recertification period. During the year of your recertification, you will receive several reminders via email.
