Influential reggaetoneros Jowell & Randy could have let the tropical Viva La Musik fully speak for them in 2024. Yet the pair’s passion for their chosen genre makes this late-in-the-year effort more significant than if they’d simply tacked these 13 tracks on as deluxe-edition content. Coming mere weeks ahead of a multi-date homecoming concert series at El Coliseo de Puerto Rico, Mazorkeo.com serves as a brisk celebration of the format, commencing with the momentous “El Baño” and culminating with the bass-heavy soundsystem throwback “+ Maiz.” In between, there’s the rugged perreo of “Un Party Bellako” and “De La High School” as well as the more modern and melodic variants “X-100” and “Socios.” Few artists could balance past and present as well as they do, often within the context of the same track. So, it's no surprise to find Myke Towers quite happily operating within their special space on the retro-futurist “Sin Panty María.”
