As we currently don't have any sysop in wikiquote; maybe better if he becomes a bureaucrat.--Iradigalesc 13:25, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
According to the page, the voting is supposed to continue until May 31 (date set by the candidate himself [4]). That is more than the usual 7 days, considering that the voting started on May 20, but the projects are free to determine the duration of the selection process — and if we were to adhere to the 7 days usual, we'd still be 2 days shy of the deadline. As it stands, however, we will need to wait until May 31.
As for making the user a Bureaucrat, for that to happen there would need to be a vote specific for that end. We cannot use the result of a vote for another position (namely, administrator) to grant the user any other access level. If the local community feels that there should be a local Bureaucrat, please hold a vote locally, and once someone gains consensus to hold that flag, please post the request here. Thank you. Redux 20:03, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

  1. This user was sysop already and burocrat. he abused his power day and night to block articles and users which with whom he was in edit fights and he made himself 2 times sysop without votes nor consensus of teling others about it [5]. Danny wool has taken away his power of sysop and bureaucrat because of his abuse. [6]. Please consider that our project is too small to put up with abusers like him. Especially when we have 3 respected sysops who were brought in to replace 20 sysops that were dysyoped only just last month. Danny and Dror. Now he wants to be again sysop without the others who just relinquished their power for peace this is ridicules. I ask all stewards to exercise great caution and responsibility. Hi, I would like to ask to wait for confirmation by Harel, Dror or Dannyisme, as there have been quite some irregularities in this community. I would like to ask them to look at this vote, and if needed, to ask for a checkuser. (See the last vote on the same page, there were sockpuppets used too... ) Further I guess that this vote is only on for a few days, to wait at least a week might be better. 2. I am an avid reader and was once an editor of this Yiddish wiki (different name though) I went through so much trouble to write an objective article about a specific rabbi, רוני\jiddisch kept deleting my changes, facts that I worked so hard to gather, because רוני\jiddisch claimed I didn’t write the proper title for the rabbi and another time he claimed I’m educating the Yiddish speaking public too much, I gave up writing here pretty fast, (I have a job too) I made a vow not to write here until these shenanigans are blocked out, user יודל helped me out a little, but after waisting so many hours on a stupid selfish political objective I realized its not worth it, רוני\jiddisch with all his sockpuppet names and his shenanigan group are well equipped and a lot of money at their disposal to drive their totalitarian agenda, giving this shenanigans power will ultimately be a death sentence for this beautiful yiddish wiki, oddly enough this is the only place a Yiddish speaking person could educate and learn about many different worldly subjects objectively, so the integrity of this wiki is of extreme importance to the Yiddish speaking community, please do not give user רוני\jiddisch sysup or any other power for this wiki…please I’m begging you --Itche Ber 18:11, 3 June 2007 (UTC) see TALK

  4. --Yiddish wikipedia 15:01, 5 June 2007 (UTC) this is a low low trick that stinks to high heaven, if all those users who vote pro are realy yiddish wikipedia users where were they just last month when the whole local community voted uninamisly to make 3 new sysops Danny Dror and Harel. This was defenetly a scheam to a low very childish coup to overthrow the privies leadership there. if the Stewards will act on this unprecedented vote to let this happen i think we must realy rethink the duty of a steward. i propose a steward should make himself sysop and enforce whatever he thinks should be enforced by the local wiki votes not votes from here. and give it some time a month is to fast to undo privies votes. remember the community clearly voted to make those 3 new sysops even they are silent and inactive. they are only silent because they probebly deem it right so who are we hwere to undo the will of the local wiki?--Yiddish wikipedia 15:24, 5 June 2007 (UTC) see TALK
  5. i am a frequent user with the info on yiddish wiki, but i wasnt aware he is running here until today, when i opened this site and saw how he trolls for votes [10] he even gives us exect directions how to sign in and vote. he looks very aggressive why should somebody ask other peaple to vote for him in other sites. he may have a large family brought here to help his agenda. but i always thought that wiki is all about a community, and here i see a user stateting clearly that he cannot get elected inside the community thats why he wants the election here. this is a trick that meta should have no part in it. a sysop must represent a community not be forced opun them. and guess what he claims no active sysop in a site that has only 2 users, its that active at all why is this that a sysop was seen there only yesterday called not active[11]--Hetechpetech 17:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
this user never contributed any thing to wiki and he does not even have a user name in any wiki, his vote cannot be counted. by the way "ALL" Of the above Disagree users, are one and the same, he is known in the YI wiki as "זלמן לייב" "יודל" and much more. And more to it, most of the names never even contributed any thing and even more to it, that most of them signed up after the vote started. Its one and the same user trying to manipulate the outcome of the vote. we just need to be blind not to see how 1 user can sabotage the entire community.--Joel.m 18:38, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

It lookt like it is going the old, usual way... All disruptive conversations, nobody cares about setting clear regulations. I would very much appreciate it if I could speak with someone this day on IRC (try http://javachat.wikipedia.be . you will go to the #wikipedia-nl channel. Then type /join #wikipedia-yi . I will be there, but it might take a time before i respond) to work out a solution. This is because it is not ok to have a vote like this on meta, besides a few practical problems. I would like to suggest and come up with a few clear rules for further votes, elections etc, on which first could be voted for instance. I know you are trying to do your best, and I would as much as you do want to see that the yiddish Wikipedia becomes somewhat more active. Best regards, Effeietsanders 07:54, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Catalan Wikibooks

Hello! We have a problem in Catalan language Wikibooks. The sysop Vedranell (ca:b:User:Vedranell) created a new account called Álvaro_M (ca:b:User:Álvaro_M) when Special:Renameuser still did not exist because of the conflicts that he had with other usernames in some Wikimedia projects. Since then he has only used the second account, and when he had to do some administrator job he had to log out and enter with his old name. He says that there is no problem in this but I have finally convinced him to talk to you in order to know if there is any way to help him. I know that it is impossible to merge the two accounts but you could probably remove the sysop access to his old account and give it to his new one so that he can leave his old accunt and not use it any more. He can do dummy edits with his two accounts if you need to verify that they belong to the same person. Thank you.

Thank you again. --SMP (talk page) 19:01, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

I need two Turkish Wikipedia users sysop-ed. They both had successfull RFAs, however our only bureaucrat Dbl2010, who is also a steward, has been busy for some time; so they need to be given the privileges that they have deserved.

The names of the users are tr:User:Mach and tr:User:İnfoCan. The RFA pages are as follows:

I am also an admin on tr.wp and i hereby verify that they had successfull RFAs.

Thank you very much in advance.

Vito Genovese 18:23, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but Not done. There are many votes against both these people. You need a local bureaucrat speaking your language to close the election with respect of your local policies; stewards can't decide, and these cases are not obvious. Dbl2010 may be not active on the wiki, but I know he reads his emails, so let him decide. I'd also suggest someone else requests bureaucrat access, so as to avoid waiting for less active users. guillom 18:33, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I have emailed Dbl2010 through the stewards' mailing list, he should deal with these RfAs soon. guillom 18:45, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, no harm done anyway. Please, make sure that somewhere on ms.wiki (the votation page, maybe?) is written that flag requests must be addressed to the local bureaucrats, so that users won't post their request here again. Thank you. --Paginazero - Ø 16:09, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes but if the appointment is done here then there is no way the appointment will show up in the local user rights log. Desysoping is required so that the user can be appointed by the local bureaucrat. Master2841 16:58, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

The appointment is actually recorded on meta log only. Is that such a big problem that requires a desysopping and subsequent sysopping? Please, let's stick to common sense and to what is useful for the wiki. And let's take measures so that such a (not so severe IMHO) mistake won't occur again. --Paginazero - Ø 17:48, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Slovak Wikipedia

I request removal of sysop and bureaucrat access for user Liso.

On May 24, 2007, Slovak Wikipedia admin and bureaucrat Liso initiated a vote to confirm himself in his position. Vote ended on June 7, 2007. The result was 13 supporting, 7 opposing and 4 neutral users. The archived vote can be found at w:sk:Wikipédia:Žiadosť_o_práva_správcu/Liso_(potvrdenie).

Please note, that a procedure for adminship confirmation is currently not defined on sk.wikipedia and this was only second confirmation (following shortly after the first one), and the first one to fail. The requirement for promoting a new user to admin is 2/3 support (Voting with 1 option, this is commonly used as a rule for new adminships):

"(2) Návrh je schválený, ak získa aspoň 10 platných hlasov. Na schválenie návrhu je potrebná dvoj-tretinová väčšina alebo jednoduchá väčšina. Akú väčšinu je potrebné získať, sa stanoví pre každý druh hlasovania osobitne.
a) Dvoj-tretinová väčšina: Návrh je schválený, ak pomer kladných a záporných hlasov je väčší alebo rovný 2.""

Translation:

"(2) Suggestion is accepted if it gains at least 10 valid votes. To be accepted, it must gain at least 2/3 majority or simple majority. Which one applied will be specified for each type of vote separately.
a) 2/3 support: Suggestion is accepted if ratio of positive and negative votes is equal or larger than 2."

So this can be implied for self-requested confirmation. (in addition Liso as one of the first admins never passed any community vote except for checkuser vote).

Moreover, Liso himself explicitly declared in discussion to the vote:

"Pokial neziskam do 7. juna 2/3 (aj ked by sa dali spekulovat rozne vyklady) podporu sam poziadam nejakeho stewarda o odobratie prav."

Translation:

"If I don't get 2/3 support until June 7 (even if one could speculate different interpretations), I will ask a steward for de-adminship myself."

At the time he made that statement, his support was 10 vs. 9 opposing. On June 7, 2007, he wrote a concusion to the vote, where he said he needs to think about further steps [35]. No further steps in this matter happened as of this writing, despite I noticed him of further procedure (requesting de-adminship at meta) at the same page and later at his talk page ([36]). He resumed regular Wikipedia edits, including admin edits (bot flag added, June 10 and others).

Therefore I request to remove the admin and bureaucrat rights of Liso at Slovak Wikipedia. ~~helix84 09:52, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Please, don‘t believe him, there is NO RULE "The requirement for promoting a new user to admin is 2/3 support" in sk wiki. Mr. Helix can dream about that. Any statement of Liso in discussion has no influence to his admin and bureaucrat rights.--Kelovy 10:27, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

It is true, there is no reason to remove admin rights of Liso (there was no confirmation of burreaucrat rights either, only sysop rights) and I don't know about 2/3 requirement. --Wizzard 10:54, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

I hope you could see that helix84's asking is "non-standard" asking in other's name... :( It is more complicated. Or simple. Even I got what I declarated I want (2/3 support (18 voices against 9)) I asked time for my reaction because I like to try to find best solution for our wiki. My words was my own plans and helix84 has not any right (nor any rule in sk.wiki gives him rigth to ask my desysop) to ask for my desysop. But although I got what I asked I am still thinking about asking desysop because I am prepared sacrifice my sysop rights to gain stability and prosperity of our wiki. But! :/ I am not sure that it is best thing to keep admins who makes steps like helix84 here to admin our wiki... So please be patient! I hope we will find soulution in our wiki... (sorry my poor english) --Liso 10:55, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

@Liso: The best solution is to keep your word. Bureaucrauts should be honest people. If you want time to think, you should specify a time-limit. Endless thinking and using rights is unfair.
There are also several points:
  • Liso has never gained support for his sysop and bureaucrat status by Slovak community. He was promoted directly by a steward. (from ordinary user to bureaucrat in two days [37])
  • Liso voluntarily started an official vote, on an official local page for RfA, not a private poll, which he can use to decide himself. There is a ratified rule for votes on Slovak Wikipedia.
  • @Kelovy. Your claim there is NO RULE "The requirement for promoting a new user to admin is 2/3 support is not true.
    • It is said in the head of Slovak RfA page sk:Wikipédia:Žiadosť o práva správcu (Liso wrote it :-), see [38]):
Táto stránka je určená pre hľadanie konsenzu pri menovaní adminov na slovenskej wiki. Precízne pravidlá nie sú formulované, predpokladá sa fair prístup.
Translation: This page is intended for finding consenzus in promoting administrators on Slovak wiki. Accurate rules are not formulated, fair approach is assumed.
    • The relevant rule, sk:Wikipédia:Pravidlá/Hlasovanie declares:
Toto pravidlo určuje spôsob akým sa na slovenskej Wikipédii hlasuje o návrhoch. Vzťahuje sa na všetky hlasovania, ak osobitné pravidlo nestanovuje inak.
Translation: This rule determines method how to vote about proposals on Slovak Wikipedia. It is aplied to all votes unless a special rule specifies otherwise.
There is no special rule, hence sk:Wikipédia:Pravidlá/Hlasovanie should be applied.
    • Rule sk:Wikipédia:Pravidlá/Hlasovanie gives two options how to interpret vote results. Simple majority or 2/3 majority. But there is required a consensus on sk:Wikipédia:Žiadosť o práva správcu (see translation above). Simple majority cannot be called as consensus, so 2/3 is required.
--Beren 13:34, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Interesting view :) As Helix wrote above, our official rule contains text: Which one applied will be specified for each type of vote separately. For this kind of voting majority was never specified, so due to logic it was required same ratio as in previous admin rights votings (for example my successful defending - with result 16:14). (Unofficial) words about consensus can everybody understand according his wishes. Kelovy 20:27, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

I made decision. Please remove my admin flag and keep my bureaucrat flag! Thanx! --195.91.54.85 04:47, 13 June 2007 (UTC) Sorry I was not signed and was hurry to see preview... --Liso 06:00, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Not doneA bureaucrat flag can not be kept while no admin generally. Please consider that. A little above here you can request a desysop when you give a link to a confirmation of that request with your skwiki account. Effeietsanders 10:33, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Well. Sorry for that! There was a processing error in sk.wiki so we have to solve it there. Thanx! --Liso 11:15, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
The void, technically unachievable request for access removal of Liso, which he calls processing error doesn't change anything about the result of vote.
The only "solution" Liso did at sk.wikipedia was to declare the vote null and void [39] because, as he claims, he didn't know admin rights are a prequisite for bureaucrat rights. This step was afterwards contested by AtonX, Mz and RuM(=beren) [40] and the archived vote was kept unchanged. Did he know or not, ignorantia juris non excusat should be applied.
Liso is notorious for giving vague statements. He didn't specify any deadline for resolution. Therefore I suggest stewards to give him another 24 hours (until 10:33, 14 June 2007 UTC) to correct his error by asking for removal of admin and bureaucrat flags and placing a note in English on his local user talk page. I notified him of this procedure twice before he made the request (links in my original request). If this doesn't happen, a steward should consider my original request above. ~~helix84 14:31, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
I hope that non-standard asking in my name without my approve is simply enough reason to be careful not to believe all what is helix84 saying. In our wikipedia is still continuing open discussion about this question. And I propose to be patient and wait for results. I dont plan to discuss in this page because I dont want to disturb this community with our problems. So please ask me on sk.wiki before any action or if you have any question. Or contact me on ICQ - 279374498 Thanx! --Liso 16:08, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

As Liso contested my right to ask in his name, I will cite Requests_for_permissions#Removal_of_access:

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first.

and w:sk:Wikipédia:Hlasovanie#O_povahe_konsenzu (Wikipedia:Voting#Nature of consensus), which has a formal status of recommendation:

Ak je absolútne nutné použiť nejaké formálne pravidlá čo je to konsenzus, pri súčasnej veľkosti Wikipédie možno za dôkaz širokej zhody považovať hlasovanie dvojtretinovej väčšiny.
Ak ide o závažnejšie hlasovania s následkami trvalého charakteru, môže byť požadovaná ešte širšia podpora až 75 % hlasujúcich.
Za ukazovateľa panujúcej zhody nemožno považovať prostú väčšinu.

Translation:

If it's absolutely necessary to use a formal rule about what is consensus, considering current size of Wikipedia, a vote od 2/3 majority can be considered a proof of broad consent.
If the vote is of serious nature with permanent consequences, even wider support of 75 % can be required.
Simple majority cannot be considered an indicator of consensus.

Liso also says you shouldn't believe what I say. I do not ask to be believed, I provide evidence for everything I claim. If in any case further evidence needed, I will provide it on request. ~~helix84 03:15, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Formal status, lol :))) This recomendation was translated from cs wiki by user Bubamara short time ago (same like many other "recommendations") and she didn‘t ask somebody for consent. Please, respect our OFFICIAL RULES, not such interesting translated texts. --Kelovy 17:24, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Not done - Please come to consensus in the community or let Liso request it himself in a correct way. As far as I am concerned, the discussion is closed here. Please file a new request when there are new arguments or there is a new situation. Effeietsanders 20:59, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Inuktitut Wikipedia

I would like to request permanent sysop status for iu:User:Qrc2006. He has recently revived the Inuktitut language edition and is the only active user who speaks Inuktitut. He has since put great efforts into turning what was a collection of sub-stubs into something that could one day become a real encyclopaedia. At present, the only other sysop iu:User:Thogo is absent and this situation might continue for a while, during which spam keeps accumulating on that Wiki. I have asked him, whether he would agree to volunteer as admin [51], and he has agreed. [52] Since he is the only active user (except for Thogo, Steinbach and me, who just help a little bit but do not understand any Inuktitut), holding regular admin elections makes very little sense.--Johannes Rohr 21:06, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Language Code: iu
  • Local Request Page: (none)
  • Local User Page: iu:User:Qrc2006.
Done - for three months. If no other active fluent speakers turn up in that time, we can consider making him a permanent sysop. Regards — Dan | talk 16:05, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Wikibooks Alemannics

I request sysop access.

I would like request sysop access for a year, because the Wikibooks Alemannics has just started in january 2007, and then I can better to build the Alemannic Wikibooks. The Wikibooks has only one sysop. There are a problem, because there are some pages, that should deleted, and anybody can delete those pages.

I need the admin rights to be able to use the transwiki import from German Wikibooks and German Wikipedia to the Alemanics wikibooks, the text will be translated in Alemannics from the Alemannics Users...I didn't request the temporarily one because I think I will need it again.. Thank you.Greifensee 22:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Please gain consensus in your community, and apply for normal adminship. Effeietsanders 09:52, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Greifensee: Import is not active by default. You need adminship and you must ask a developer for enable it. An other solution is the user group import, but I dont think that this is a good idea.
Effeietsanders: Which comunity? At the moment you speak to all active members of the alemannic wikibooks community (I mean User Greifensee), see b:als:Spezial:Letzte Änderungen.

I asked Civvi to report only to me the IP of a moving page vandal for the it.wiki. This is an anti-vandalism emergency measure, and I have checked for any present CU and/or bureaucrat on #wikipedia-it IRC channel in advance. --M/ 23:08, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

I am an administrator on the Alemannic Wikipedia (als:Benutzer:Chlämens) and support Greifensee's request for Admin-status. He seems to be the main [only?] person interested in getting the project off the ground and should be given all the help he needs to do so. The Alemannic Wikipedia is the umbrella project for the other Alemannic-language projects anyway (none of which are active yet), so community support would mean community support on Wikipedia. --Clemens 03:27, 27 February 2007 (UTC) Fetter Text

Done granted initially for 3 months. User is the most active on wiki and the only current administrator has made just 2 edits in 6 months. Please come back after the time expires and tell us about your work. Expires 1 June 2007 drini [es:] [commons:] 01:37, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

There is a problem, because I can't make Inter-Wikis, could you please show, what's the reason is, that I can't make Import?

That are written, when I want make an Import:

Seiten importieren Us Wikibooks Hops zue: Navigation, Suech Für den Transwiki-Import sind keine Quellen definiert. Das direkte Hochladen von Versionen ist gesperrt.

Vun "http://als.wikibooks.org/wiki/Spezial:Importieren"

Greifensee 07:44, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

@Greifensee:
RTFM I wrote the reason (it's not enabled by default) and the solution (ask a Developer)
But: I don't think that this is a good idea, because the alemanisch Wikibooks is at the moment the german wikibooks translated into alemenic ... Including technichal texts (I'm an technician student in switzerland and can tell, nobody read or write such textes in alemanic ...), rules, conventions, candidats for deletion and so on ...

Not done, in such circumstances you will be promoted only after a proper RfAs. Besides, tkwiki already has three sysops. And removing other user's comments related to you IS NOT going to help you. MaxSem 12:16, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
