3-month adminship
  • Anyone can then post the request at Steward requests/Permissions#Administrator access, including a link to the local discussion.
  • A steward will then assign the permission.
  • The permission will be removed without notice after the term expires.
  • An extension for another 3 months can be sought by repeating the above steps approximately two weeks before the expiry of the current term.
6-month or longer adminship
  • A steward will then assign the permission.
  • The permission will be removed without notice after the term expires.
  • An extension for another 6 months or longer can be sought by repeating the above steps approximately two weeks before the expiry of the current term.

Permanent Administrator

[edit]
  • The local community must be large enough to require an administrator. The definition of "large enough" is determined by the stewards but can include factors such as the number of deletions, blocks and page protections carried out by stewards or other global users over a significant period of time.
  • The candidate must place a notice requesting the permission on the local village pump, administrators' noticeboard or a designated page for requesting permissions.
  • Allow at least 1 week for discussion.
  • There must be at least 5 votes.
  • The candidate must obtain at least 80% support.
  • Any opposition requires a full discussion.
  • Anyone can then post the request at Steward requests/Permissions#Administrator access, including a link to the local discussion.
  • A steward will then assign the permission.

Bureaucrat

[edit]
  • The local community must be large enough to require a bureaucrat. The definition of "large enough" is determined by the stewards but can include factors such as how often the stewards have needed to assign or remove administrator, bot or translation administrator permissions over a significant period of time.
  • The community must have at least six permanent administrators.
  • Ideally the community should be looking to appoint a minimum of two bureaucrats.
  • The candidate must obtain at least 80% support.
  • Any opposition requires a full discussion.
  • Anyone can then post the request at Steward requests/Permissions#Bureaucrat access, including a link to the local discussion.
  • A steward will then assign the permission.

Removing permissions

[edit]

Any of the above permissions can be removed in certain circumstances.

  • A user can request removal of one or more permissions from their own account. The request should be made at Steward requests/Permissions#Removal of access whilst logged in. The stewards may apply a delay of 24 hours to ensure the user has time to rethink their request. Once removed, the permission(s) can only be re-obtained through the procedures outlined above.
  • If a user is not using a permission correctly, removal can be requested after consensus has been obtained from the local community. Once there is consensus to remove the permission, a request can only be made at Steward requests/Permissions#Removal of access by a trusted user e.g. a local administrator or bureaucrat. The request should include a link to the local discussion, a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and a summary of the results of the discussion.
  • Requests for removal of permission should not be made to the stewards if a local bureaucrat is able to remove the permission. Please consult the list of wikis which authorize bureaucrats to remove these permissions.
  • An administrator or bureaucrat will be deemed inactive if they have not made at least one admin/bureaucrat action in the previous two years. Removal of such permissions is conducted through the admin activity review process.
