Meet-And-Greet: Kristin Chen of Counterfeit
4TH NOVEMBER 2022 (FRIDAY)
7.30PM-9PM
Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store
Kirstin Chen, author of The New York Times’ Bestseller Counterfeit, spent an evening at our Main Store on Friday, 4th November 2022. The session was moderated by Jason Erik Lundberg, editor, author and anthologist of over twenty-five books.
Counterfeit follows the story of two Asian American women, Winnie and Ava, whose lives are intertwined after a chance encounter past their college years. Although seemingly coming from different backgrounds, both work together to grow a counterfeit handbag scheme into a global enterprise.
It was an engaging and intimate session, and audience members, which included her friends and supporters of all ages, listened with rapt attention as Kirstin read a short excerpt from her book.
Kirstin also shared about the inspiration that led her to writing Counterfeit, her research experiences that brought her all the way to China, and even teased a future TV adaptation in the making! Audience members were keen to hear about her writing process and what the future holds for her book.
The Q&A session saw several interesting questions raised by the audience, such as Kirstin’s thoughts on branded goods and their reception by different cultures, which she happily answered.
The event ended off with an Autograph session where Kirstin’s fans were happy to get to interact with her up close.
We certainly look forward to having Kirstin at our bookstore in the future again!
