Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd the national mobile services provider has experienced a rapid growth over the years and has nearly 5 million subscribers and has established a strong presence in the island. Mobitel launched its mobile money service – mCash in November 2013, licensed under Central Bank of Sri Lanka. mCash allows Mobitel subscribers to maintain a mobile account and experience a whole new convenient method of carrying out financial transactions. Subscribers are able to deposit money, withdraw money, send money, pay for airtime top-ups/bills, pay utility bills & insurance premiums & even pay for goods & services. Within a span of just 18 months mCash has attracted a large number of customers and has formed business partnerships with several leading establishments to bring in convenience like experienced never before when performing financial transactions. The newest service offered by mCash is that now all customers are allowed to make their bill payments to Hutch and purchase air time through their own mCash wallets, as well as through any of the mCash retailers/Mobitel locations island-wide.
