As part of #2584 we need to rework the banner anyway as it doesn't adapt to dark mode. We had already plans to put the workspace bar above the banner to better fit the browser UI pattern but we could think about other changes.
So by default, we would just switch the order and adapt the buttons so they work in dark mode.
In most projects the number of workspaces remains limited and there is quite a bit of empty space so we could compress the two into a single banner.
Then, one another idea to better use the space is try to put the "context" panel information there as well. That data anyway applies to the entire workspace, not just to "Overview". That context panel also tends to resize poorly so it would be great to get rid of it.
Finally, we had discussed the introduction of a global search in #2466. We would need to put that search bar somewhere. It could be a modal but it could also be a permanently visible search bar, a bit like we have at the top right of the data laboratory.
Would be great to get some guidance on the best direction here @jacomyma

Discussed offline with @jacomyma and picked a single-banner solution. See screenshots below for light and dark FlatLaf.
There is also space prepared for the search bar on the right but we'll tackle that as part of #2466. For context, no changes for now due to lack of time but still something we should explore.
