Point releases are designed to provide a distinct subset of functionality on top of existing major releases:

• hotfixes for major releases.
• Fixes for false positives
• Security fixes

Major releases are not necessarily backward compatible with previous releases. While we do our best to keep releases similar, we may change IDs and the underlying structure of the rules between major releases. We may add the following:

• Completely new rules.
