To preserve the rights and limit the liabilities of all parties using the MDS, especially FIDO as the MDS
provider, various legal agreements apply to the parties and legal headers must be placed in the BLOB
and each Metadata Statement. The three legal agreements are:
Agreement
Metadata Submission Terms (for Authenticator Vendors): HTML, PDF
Metadata Usage Terms (for Developers): HTML, PDF
Metadata Usage Terms (for Relying Parties or Service Providers): HTML, PDF
The Metadata Submission Terms (for Authenticator Vendors) will be agreed to by the Authentication
Vendor when registering to be a vendor that can submit Metadata Statements to the MDS. Developers
will be put on notice of the Metadata Usage Terms by the section of the Specifications that define the
legal header, by the inclusion of the legal header in every BLOB and Metadata Statement and by various
webpages and their development of software and continued use of the MDS will indicate assent to the
terms. Relying Parties and Service Providers and anyone else using the MDS will be put on notice of the
Metadata Usage Terms (for Relying Parties or Service Providers) by the Developers, by the section of the
Specifications that the legal header and by the inclusion of the legal header in every BLOB and Metadata
Statement and their continued usage of the MDS will indicate assent to the terms.
