The world is taking action to limit the flood of plastic waste that is polluting our rivers and oceans and harming wildlife and human health. Negotiators are finalizing a global treaty on plastic waste with the goal of reducing single-use plastics and keeping plastics out of the environment.

The treaty carries enormous implications for a range of industry sectors and government operations, and policy makers, researchers and business leaders are already at work on ways to replace plastics, encourage their reuse and improve recycling.
