IDN#5 Otak-Otak @Jakarta
During the latest trip in Indonesia, I had "Otak-Otak" several times. It is one of my favourites. I believe we, the Asians loves our fish cakes.
Otak-otak is a cake made of fish meat and some ingredients what is widely known across Southeast Asia. They have a slight difference in ingredients. In Indonesia, it made from fish paste, shallots, garlic, scallions, egg, coconut milk, and sago flour. That texture is like a softer "Chi-Ku-Wa竹輪".
It is wrapped inside a banana leaf and grill on a charcoal grill, usually.
In Indonesia, three cities are famous for its otak-otak, Palembang, Jakarta and Makassar. I loves Jakarta flavor source. I love spicy tamarind souce. I also want to take this with grated wasabi!!
